When we started the Suffolk Hog Roasts, we made sure that food provenance was key in our business ethos. Suffolk is renowned for being the home of some of the finest pork in the UK, this is because our farmers take pride in producing this high quality product in a natural environment. Blyhborough free range pork offers a traditional flavour and succulence, although we do also offer other varieties such as rare breed free range ‘Gloucester Old Spot’ and other meat such as beef, lamb and venison can be provided.
Fortunately we also follow this through when we selected our bread supplier and in 2014 we decided to team up with Suffolks own Jonny Spillings previously sous chef at Raymond Blancs Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in Oxfordshire and now the proud owner of The Penny Bun Bakehouse www.thepennybunbakehouse.co.uk This award winning Suffolk bakers provides us with a variety of bread for our hog roasts. Brioche and Ciabatta the more popular choices but we can offer alternatives if you wish. We do not and will not ever use cash and carry or supermarket packaged breads, our aim is to provide bread made to order and fresh, again aiming for the finest and freshest products.
All the Hog Roasts are supplied with our own Turner and Taylor Suffolk Cider Apple Sauce and Creasys of Peasenhall, sage, onion and sausage meat stuffing.
